Join the Austin Farm Sanctuary Volunteer Team!
Learn to care for the residents of AFS, spend some time in the great outdoors and meet other amazing people in our blossoming community.
Our volunteer orientations are the first step in becoming a volunteer at Austin Farm Sanctuary. During our 2 hours we will walk through the feeding routine for all of the residents, train you on the basics of their day to day care, and do one of our typical daily chores. After you've attended an orientation you will be shared instructions to signup for future volunteer days where you'll shadow one of our volunteer coordinators through chores and become empowered to sign up for volunteers shifts when convenient for you.
Our sanctuary is located on 45 beautiful acres in Paige, Texas, which is about 55 minutes east of Austin, and all of our volunteer shifts happen at the sanctuary.
To become a member of our Animal Care Team you are required to attend 1 orientation. After orientation we ask that you volunteer at least 2 times a month in order to keep planning for the animals predictable and make sure you stay "in the loop". A lot can change here in just a few days, so keeping in-the-know is important. After you complete orientation and shadowing you'll get a AFS T-Shirt!
What to bring
Please wear closed toed shoes and clothes for the outdoors! Also, please bring a reusable water container. Gloves are also recommended!
Why the $25?
Making sure we are investing in volunteers that want to invest in us is very important. Having a price to attend an orientation helps to ensure our attendees have an interest and expectation to join our team. After joining our team you'll get a free AFS shirt which is our "return" for your initial investment. If this fee is restrictive and will prohibit you from attending a volunteer day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org <3
