The sanctuary hosts a wide variety of events including campouts, volunteer training days and private tours.

Barre and Baaas

Move your body, breathe fresh country air, and spend the morning connecting with rescued farm animals at our first-ever Barre and Baaas event!

Led by our amazing volunteer and professional barre instructor Kim Fry, this experience blends mindful movement, sanctuary connection, and community joy — all in the heart of Buddy’s Buds, our special-needs goat and sheep area.

Event Flow:

  • 10:00–10:15am | Arrival and resident introductions

  • 10:15–10:45am | Barre class with Kim (surrounded by Buddy’s Buds!)

  • 11–12pm | Guided sanctuary tour

  • 12–1pm | BYO plant-based picnic lunch, supplemented with snacks and drinks from local sponsors

  • 1–2pm | Relax and reconnect with residents and community

Thanksliving Celebration and Fun Run 5k

We are excited to welcome y'all back out to the farm for our 3rd  Annual Thanksgiving celebration and a Run/Walk 5K around AFS (if you so desire). Our 95+ acre home is not only a sanctuary for our over 250 residents, it is also an incredible place for you to get to know them, support our mission, and meet other people in our wonderful community.

Join us for an amazing Thanksgiving meal from Austin's very own Counter Culture. We will work up an appetite with Tours and a Fun Run 5K around the sanctuary. Not up for running, or need a break mid run? What better pit stop than hanging out at one of the snack stations throughout the sanctuary for you AND the residents <3

We will have plenty of fun for all. Whether you're a runner, walker, or just want to sit in a chair stuffing yourself with awesome vegan food, this event is for you!

Agenda

  • 10:30 - Gates Open

  • 11:00 - Tours and 5K Begin 

  • 12:30 - Last Tour and Runners Depart

  • 1:00 - Food is served for ticket holders

  • 1:00+ - Eat and Be Merry :)

  • 3:00 - Event concludes
